Research Project with the CDTI (Center for Industrial Technological Development)

Synergistic combination of functional ingredients for the control of digestive pathologies in Iberian pigs

The Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI), belonging to the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, approved, at its meeting held on 11/29/2017, the granting of a partially reimbursable aid to Técnica Ganadera, S.L. (TEGASA) for the realization of the Research and Development project IDI-201709021 called “Synergistic combination of functional ingredients for the control of digestive pathologies in Iberian pigs“.

The CDTI is a Public Business Entity, which promotes innovation and technological development of Spanish companies. This entity takes in charge the requests for funding and support to the R + D + i projects of Spanish companies in the national and international spheres.

The objective of this project is to obtain a new product formulated based on essential oils, organic acids and medium chain fatty acids, for the control of digestive pathologies present in breeding and fattening farms of Iberian pigs, which allow the reduction of the use of antibiotics. Bearing in mind that in the productive system of pigs there is a great infective pressure, it is increasingly necessary to find alternatives at a nutritional level that avoid intestinal disorders without falling into an extensive use of antibiotics.

In this project that continues in development, in addition to TEGASA, a research team from the University of Extremadura participates, several pig farms in the area and various technical collaborations are carried out through numerous private companies.
